Modern Slavery Statement
Introduction
Newburgh Foods Ltd is committed to ensuring that there is no modern slavery or human trafficking within our company or within supply chains.
Organizational Structure & Supply Chain
Newburgh Foods Ltd supplies food retailers as well as the wholesale and food service sectors, with own brand and private label poultry products. Our supply chains are predominantly based in Europe and we require that all our suppliers comply in full to the Modern Slavery Act 2015.
Policies, Standards and Practices
Newburgh Foods Ltd operates the following policies that detail our approach to the identification of modern slavery risks.
Training – staff are made aware of the requirements of the modern slavery act 2015 at induction stage. Literature is sent directly to new employees via email and is displayed at various points across the site. HR staff are trained on identifying and preventing modern slavery.
Awareness Program: all employees are made aware of the basic principles of the Modern Slavery Act 2015. The key areas include:
- Understanding human trafficking and labour exploitation
- How employers can identify and prevent slavery and human trafficking
- What employees can do to flag up potential slavery or human trafficking issues to the relevant parties within the company
Recruitment Policy
Newburgh Foods Ltd do not utilise Recruitment agencies for either temporary or permanent staffing solutions. All new recruits are employed directly with Newburgh Foods Ltd and the majority of sourcing of candidates is through recommendations of friends and family from the current workforce.
Reporting Concerns
We encourage all of our workers to report any concerns related to the direct activities or the supply chains of the organization. This includes any circumstances that may give rise to an enhanced risk of slavery or human trafficking. Employees are able to anonymously post any concerns using our whistle-blowing post box located in the canteen.
Due Diligence
Newburgh Foods Ltd recognizes that the principal exposure to Modern Slavery is within the supply chain, we undertake due diligence when considering new suppliers, and review our existing suppliers.
Reviews include:
- Assessing and reviewing the supply chain to consider their particular product and or geographical risks of modern slavery and human trafficking
- Evaluating the modern slavery and human trafficking risks of each new supplier
- Conducting supplier audits or assessments through questionnaires, which will incorporate compliance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015
